CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Friday's early. heavy rains in the Brush Country -- the region southwest of the Coastal Bend -- have abated, and only isolated showers are expected for Saturday, however, scattered thunderstorms return Sunday.

Increasing tropical moisture will mean persistent isolated-to-scattered showers and thunderstorms through next week.

A stationary front lingering near the Coastal Bend will focus abundant Gulf moisture bringing thunderstorms on Sunday, but that system dissipates by early in the work week.

Meanwhile, a surge of tropical moisture now dousing Central America with torrential rainfall will make its way into the western Gulf of Mexico early next week.

While the system never gets very organized, its proximity will provide sufficient moisture to combine with afternoon heating and bring isolated showers through Friday of next week.

Highs will remain in the upper 80s to around 90, with lows in the middle 70s.
