CORPUS CHRISTI, TEXAS — Due to the Covid-19 threat, many people are in need trying to find certain items at grocery stores to provide for their families.
Inspired by a woman in Taft, TX, Blessing Tables have been popping up all over the Coastal Bend.
A Blessing Table is for the community, by the community. Providing essential items that many can't get their hands on, "some of the people who are not able to get out, or some of the people that have already lost their jobs, and maybe are short in funds, I have noticed that they are unable to get the stuff that they need."
Mother of three, Jessica Recio said she was inspired to start her own blessing table Sunday morning when she kept seeing other people throughout the area post their own tables. She felt it was a way to help those in a time of need.
These Blessing tables include a variety of needs, "it includes anywhere from canned foods, to toilet paper, paper towels, we’re trying to get cleaning supplies, that is really hard to find right now during this time. But we do wipes, we do formula for the babies."
From Taft, Portland, Corpus Christi, and Flour Bluff, you can find a Blessing Table, and as the signs say, 'Take what you Need.'
As of Monday, the Blessing Table owners have gathered together to start their own Google Map, for anyone to find a table.
They have also began a #BlessingTableChallenge, to get others involved in helping one another.
