Fernando is the oldest of five boys and was raised in Robstown. He grew up in Figueroa Square and later moved to G.I. Forum, where he walked to school every day. Before joining KRIS 6, he originally thought his future was in radio. However, he credits his time at TAMU-CC with discovering his love of television and media.
He graduated from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi with his bachelor's in Communications in 2019.
Although he is new to multimedia journalism, he has worked for KRIS 6 News since 2019. He has experience as an editor, studio tech, and even director.
Outside of work, Fernando describes himself as a “huge nerd”. His top three loves include Pokémon, Dragon Ball Z and professional wrestling. His favorite wrestler is “Stone Cold” Steve Austin, his favorite Pokémon is Magikarp, and his favorite Dragon Ball character is Beerus. He even named his dog Beerus
On his off time, Fernando likes to go to the movies as many times as he can. He loves to work out at the gym, and take his dog on adventures all over Corpus Christi, including downtown, the beach or the dog park.
