CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Hundreds of volunteers helped honor the heroes buried at the Coastal Bend Veterans Cemetery.
It's part of a nation-wide program called Wreaths Across America.
As part of the program, people are invited to lay wreaths at the graves of veteran's cemeteries across the country.
When it started in 2012, volunteers laid about 300 wreaths.
Today they exceeded 2,600 wreaths in total.
Ram Chavez from the veterans band said, "We had a full house. it's a great honor to be associated with this great event."
Attendee Ben Vega said, "I got some people that i would like to bring next year and be part of this and hopefully we just participate year after year because it was a wonderful experience."
Next year, the Coastal Bend State Cemetery hopes to lay 3,000 wreaths.
