Education Service Center, Region 2 is hosting a conference next week aimed at helping the community to be prepared in the event of an emergency.

The 2018 Health and Safety Conference, titled Ready, Set, Respond will be held Oct. 30, at 209 N. Water Street from 8: 30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. and is open to all community wide businesses, organizations, school districts and non-profit agencies. Registration for the event begins at 8 a.m.

ESC-2 says this one-day conference brings attention to areas combining health and safety for emergency response, and will feature health breakout sessions concentrating on both the physical and mental health of employees, staff, and students.  Safety sessions will focus on enhancing facility security and preventing threats in advance.

ESC-2 says these best practices will assist teams in improving emergency operations plans and traumatic recovery procedures.

More than 20 community and statewide partners will be exhibiting and presenting at the conference, including: Bayview Behavior Hospital, Homeland Security, CCISD CCPD, GPISD PD, ESC Region 20, Nueces County Office of Emergency Management, Nueces Center for Mental Health and Intellectual Disabilities, Children’s Advocacy Center of the Coastal Bend, New Life Refuge Ministries and Driscoll Children’s Hospital.
