CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Students from Bishop Garriga Middle School and Saint John Paul II High School were putting their best feet forward today.
They held their annual walk for life Friday, Oct. 4. The event has grown over the years. It started off with middle school students honoring it's breast cancer survivors. Now it supports survivors of all forms of cancer.
"We have several students that have grandparents, parents or tias or tios that are going through cancer," said health teacher Bruni Flores.
How did they raise the money? Throughout the year, students donated $2 to wear jeans on Fridays and after school snacks were sold, with profits going to the walk. These efforts continue even after the walk.
Walk organizer, Carroll Enloe says they have raised over 1,000 dollars. The most they have ever raised. They plan on doing a check presentation in November, to the American Cancer Society.
