CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — Sixty families went home from H-E-B last night with a Christmas blessing from police officers.
The Corpus Christi Police Officers' Association handed out $100 gift cards across five H-E-B locations around town.
It is part of their Blue Santa Program and they say it's their way of interacting with those they serve.
"The very first card I gave out to a family, the three kids and the mom immediately gave me a hug,” said Scott Leeton of the Corpus Christi Police Officers’ Association. “Then we unembraced and we embraced again."
On Saturday, the program will team up with the Boys and Girls club, when Blue Santa will jump out of a helicopter to deliver toys to children.
