For more than two decades, an organization called Youth Odyssey has been operating in Corpus Christi.

Later this week, they will be celebrating with a summer fiesta.

For more than two decades, Youth Odyssey has been bringing significant life changing experiences to those who are 10 to 17 years of age.

The organization, formed in Corpus Christi in 1997, is dedicated to teaching basic life skills through fun outdoor activities, including ropes courses, kayaking, rock climbing and camping. Through these experiences, young people learn about communication, teamwork, problem-solving, goal-setting, leadership and trust.

The Summer Fiesta is happening from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday at The Bay Jewel (624 N. Mesquite Street).

In addition to food and drinks, the evening will include live music provided by Billy Snipes. There will be a Pick Your Poison “50/50” raffle, as well as both a live and silent auction.

Those who attend will hear heartfelt testimonies from teens and camper from previous years, as well as a message from Honorary Chairs, Sheriff J.C. Hooper and his wife, Cheryl.

Tickets are $100 each or $800 for a table of 10. Sponsorships are available.

To purchase tickets or to learn more about the group, visit www.youthodyssey.com or call Executive Director Becky Meyer at (361) 946-6016.

All proceeds go toward summer camp sponsorships and free summer programming.
