If your child needs a new hairdo for the new school year, Del Mar College can help.
Its cosmetology students will begin offering free haircuts this week.
In 2017, the Del Mar Cosmetology Department gave more than 200 free haircuts to students in grades kindergarten through 12th grade.
The students say this is the best time of year because they get to see the excitement in their young client’s eyes when they see their new haircut. In turn, they get the practice they need.
“We like to take clients on especially during these type of events because it really gives us the opportunity to get hand on training, practice what it will be like once we’re in the field and we’re inside the salon doing these types of haircuts.” Del Mar Cosmetology student Danielle Garza said.
The cosmetologists will take walk-ins at the West Campus’ Flato Technologies Building Room 211 off Airport Road starting Wednesday, August 8th through Friday, August 10th. They will be working from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
