In lieu of their normal routine, the Hooks held batting practice off-field on Saturday, atop the flight deck of the Blue Ghost.

It happened over at USS Lexington Museum on the Bay (The Blue Ghost), as part of the ship’s 75th anniversary and Blue Ghost Weekend.

There, players from the Corpus Christi Hooks had a few rounds of batting practice, seeing who could launch the longest shot off the retired Navy aircraft carrier.

"It’s an awesome opportunity for a lot of the players to get out in the community, and do something fun, and some of the fans to see some of the players away from the field," said Mycal Jones, Hooks Development Coach. "They (fans) love to see the guys on the field playing baseball, and this is another way for us to interact with some of the fans and do something that’s really fun."

If you were worried about all those baseballs hit into the Corpus Christi Bay, well, a team of kayakers were on-hand to take care of things.
