CORPUS CHRISTI, TX – The Texas State Aquarium will put its own spin on Earth Day this Saturday, April 21 with its annual Party for the Planet™ celebration and a community beach cleanup, giving guests an opportunity to have fun and connect with nature and conservation in the Coastal Bend community.
This environmentally-focused event will feature a variety of games and activities from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. all which are included at no extra charge with guest admission or membership. Activities will include: a text message scavenger hunt, a t-shirt bag-making station, sustainable seafood tastings with red snapper, eco-friendly bubbles, eco-friendly face painting, Party for the Planet™ cake and animal enrichment. Guests will also explore the Aquarium’s exhibits to discover a variety of “eco-tips” hidden among the coral reefs and other underwater landscapes.
Also on Saturday, the Aquarium will serve as a North Beach host site for the Texas General Land Office’s Adopt-A-Beach event. Citizens can join in on the effort to clean local beaches from 9 a.m. – 12 p.m. As a thank you for helping make our area beaches a little cleaner, Adopt-A-Beach participants will receive discounted admission to the Aquarium. Those interested in attending the Adopt-A-Beach cleanup can register at this link, choosing the location “North Beach Corpus Christi.”
Through these activities, the Aquarium aims to teach guests of all ages how they can help protect wildlife and keep our planet healthy, all while connecting with their community and having a little fun in the process.
Party for the Planet™ is held in April every year at more than 120 zoo and aquariums, making it the largest combined Earth Day celebration in North America.
