Calallen announced it will move to a "pass" or "incomplete" system of grading for students grades 1-12 due to the disruptions caused by the COVID-19 pandemic.

The school board policy was shifted Monday in order to continue to evaluate students' progress while they participate in distance learning.

The new grading system will take effect during the fourth nine-weeks of the current school year, replacing the tradition system.

Parents can see the guidelines for the new system here.

For students whose work is deemed "incomplete," summer sessions will be mandatory in order to be promoted with the rest of their class in the fall.

The statement from Calallen ISD Superintendent Arturo Almendarez said schools will continue to reach out to parents whose students may need extra support in order to help them pass the nine-weeks.
