Alexis is a Michigan native coming to the Coastal Bend from Houston, Texas. Before joining KRIS 6, she was a producer for KPRC Channel 2 and ABC13 in H-town. However, her desire to be a reporter has always been the catalyst for the path she’s taken within her career thus far.
Before moving to Texas, Alexis worked in production for ABC News 20/20 in New York City. During her time there, she collaborated closely with Deborah Roberts and Diane Sawyer on several investigative projects. Preceding that opportunity, Alexis also strengthened her news experience while working alongside David Kerley and the Department of Transportation for the ABC News Bureau in Washington, D.C. She spent time in Barcelona, Spain, studying at the local university and working as a radio production intern at Barcelona City FM radio station.
Alexis credits her push to pursue a career in journalism by closely watching the careers of some of her favorite heavy hitters: April Ryan, David Muir, Anderson Cooper, Don Lemon and Angela Rye. As she continues to grow within the industry, Alexis’ desire to tell stories that matter, seek the truth and create change is what pushes her to the next level daily.
Alexis graduated from Hampton University in Virginia with a degree in Broadcast Journalism and a Masters from the University of Missouri-Columbia. While in college at HU, she was a general assignment reporter for the campus news station, WHOV-TV. She is a member of the National Association of Black Journalists and the Hampton University Alumni Association.
When she’s not catching up on ‘all things news', Alexis loves traveling, cooking, shopping, and spending time with her family, especially during the Christmas holiday.
“The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don't have any.”
