CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — The 34-year-old woman shot to death at the Valley Motel on Leopard Street early Friday morning has been identified.
Corpus Christi resident Sofia Lott died from gunshot wounds to head and chest, said the Nueces County Medical Examiner's Office on Monday.
Police were called to motel around 4:45 a.m. for a report of shots fired.
Lott was found dead at the scene.
Police say a gunman fired several shots from outside the room.
“I can tell you, it's very preliminary right now but we do know that this is not a random act of violence,” Corpus Christi Deputy Police Chief Billy Breedlove said. “It appears that the individuals knew one another.”
Police wouldn't say if they have a description of the suspect.
They did say there were other people inside the room, but nobody else was hurt.
Also, police say none of the other neighboring rooms were hit by gunfire.
