Scattered thundershowers in the area today

Upper-level high pressure had moved over to the west and, for the most part, has taken the very hot temperatures that we experienced over last weekend with it. This is only temporary and by the end of the week, that high will start to build back in our direction and heat things up once again.

In the meantime, a minor upper-level disturbance will move into the Coastal Bend today from the West Texas area and collide with Gulf moisture and lead to some scattered thundershowers in the region. Keyword here being scattered. Not everyone will participate and some locations will receive more rainfall than others. Even with the extra clouds and some rainfall around, the afternoon high here in the city of Corpus Christi will reach the lower 90s with winds out of the east-northeast around 7-14 MPH

Tonight will be mainly cloudy and steamy, but tranquil. Winds will relax around 5-10MPH and overnight lows will fall into the mid to lower 70s

We’ll see less rainfall in the area on Wednesday as the upper-high begins to build back so that means more sun breaking through the clouds and hotter afternoon highs. We’ll look for 93 here in the city and middle to upper 90s inland.

As the high builds back overhead, winds will also begin to increase out of the southeast. By Thursday, Friday and into the weekend we’ll see a good amount of sunshine and hot afternoon highs in the middle 90s.

For the Father’s Day weekend, look for mostly sunny to partly cloudy skies with highs in the middle 90s and windy south-southeasterly winds around 15-25MPH and gusting.
