Scattered thunderstorms in the forecast

We had another very warm and cloudy day in the Coastal Bend.  There were a few small thundershowers in the area early in the day, but for the most part it remained dry.  Most of the thunderstorm activity for today has been out around Houston and in northern parts of the state.

In the short term, for tonight expect muggy, mild and breezy conditions tonight with lows only falling into the lower 70s.

Wednesday will continue to be cloudy, windy and warm with some isolated thundershowers and a high in the low 80s.  Again the bulk of the activity will come late Wednesday and early Thursday.

An upper-level disturbance is beginning to move into West Texas and the associated surface front will start to push southward tonight and much of the day tomorrow.  Out ahead of the front, a cluster of showers and thunderstorms are forecast to build.  The upper-level low will provide support for some of those thunderstorms to become severe with large hail and damaging winds being the primary threats.  We still cannot rule out the potential for some isolated tornadoes.

The weak front will push into the Coastal Bend late Wednesday evening and into early Thursday morning.  Some locations could easily pick up around half an inch of rain to three-quarters of an inch.  There will be some isolated spots with higher amounts, but the farther north you go into Central and East Texas, the higher potential for rain and for severe weather.

High pressure will begin to build in by Thursday afternoon and we will be in for a very nice weekend with highs in the middle to upper 80s, clear skies and light winds.
