Our highly anticipated cold front made its way through the region through the late morning hours and has kept temperatures rather chilly on this Sunday.  High pressure that is sinking through the Central Plains will continue to usher in very cold air into the Lone Star State and most locations headed into the 30s by Monday morning.

The National Weather Service has issued a Freeze Watch in effect for Live Oak and Bee counties from late Monday night through early Tuesday morning.  Outdoor pets will need shelter/extra blankets to keep warm and sensitive vegetation should be covered to protect from the cold temperatures.  In addition, a Wind Chilly Advisory has been issued from 3AM-9AM Monday for Live Oak, Bee and Duval counties.  Make sure to dress in layered clothing if you plan on being outdoors for prolonged periods of time to protect from hypothermia.  Wind chill values will hover in the 20s and low 30s.

Tonight will be mainly cloudy and cold.  Overnight lows are forecast to drop into the upper 30s in Corpus Christi with low to mid 30s for our inland locations.  Near the Gulf, mid to low 40s will be common.  Winds: N 15-25MPH Wind Chill: 25-35 degrees

Monday we’ll hold on to plenty of clouds, light mist and drizzle will redevelop and it will be plenty cold with highs struggle to get to the middle 40s.  Winds: N 10-20MPH Wind Chill: 30-36 degrees

Tuesday won’t be much better; highs will still struggle to get out of the upper 40s.  Expect mainly cloudy skies with less drizzle.

Beginning on Wednesday we’ll see more of an easterly wind and that will usher in higher humidity and we’ll start to see temperatures climb.  By Thursday and into Friday our highs will shoot back into the 70s, but the clouds are forecast to stay in the area.

Another weak front arrives next Sunday, but will be much weaker than the one today and could kick off another round of some shower activity.

Stay warm!
