Today has been a wild weather day in the Coastal Bend as a shallow cold front moved through the area throughout the morning and early afternoon hours.  Accompanying this front were much cooler temperatures, some 15-30 degrees cooler than yesterday.  Warm southwesterly winds are riding over the colder airmass which resulted in some showers and thundershowers with doppler radar estimates around half an inch to an inch and a quarter for some of our inland locations.  This was much welcomed as some of our western counties were beginning to experience some moderate drought.

Tonight will be chilly and damp with lows in the low 50s.  There will be some patchy dense fog mixed in with a few light showers.  Winds: NNE 6-12MPH

Tomorrow the front will back up to the north as a warm front and as a result we’ll see milder temperatures closer to the 60s near the coast and 70s out west.  If clouds hold strong, we may struggle to get out of the lower 60s.  So milder than this afternoon, but still on the cool side.

Saturday look for highs in the low 70s with still mainly cloudy skies.  Sunday will be a transitional day with a big arctic front coming down into the area.  Forecast models still bring the boundary in late in the afternoon and this will allow temperatures to warm up nicely in the upper 70s to low 80s prior to its arrival.  Once the boundary moves through, temperatures will drop rapidly with windy conditions out of the north-northeast at 15-25 MPH and gusting.  Clouds will be plentiful and a few showers and thundershowers near the boundary remain possible.

Monday and Tuesday will be raw and cold with highs having a hard time getting out of the 40s with overnight lows in the upper 30s to low 40s under cloudy and damp conditions.

On Wednesday and Thursday we’ll see a few more spots of sunshine and temperatures going back up into the 60s and 70s.
