More blazing heat this week

Parts of North Texas got a good soaking this weekend courtesy of a cold front moving into that part of the region.  In addition to some of that rain, they are experiencing cooler temperatures; really it’s just not quite as hot.

Unfortunately for us here in the Coastal Bend, it is looking more and more likely that the front will not push all the way down into our area.  It looks like the front will lose steam and get caught up in the Hill Country and start to push more east as upper-level high pressure swings back in from the west and promote hot temperatures.  Of course that also means the rain chances will be slim at best for us late Tuesday and on into Wednesday.  Our northern areas have the best opportunity to see some outflow activity.

For tonight it will be steamy and warm with overnight lows near 80.

Monday will feature a mix of clouds and sun with hot temperatures in the mid to upper 90s.  Heat indices will push 105-112 for some locations.  Residents are urged to use caution outdoors and drink plenty of water to stay hydrated and seek the shaded spots frequently.

Not much change for Tuesday and the remainder of the week.  One noticeable change will be less wind, especially compared to the last couple of days and all of last week when it was windy nearly every day.  Outside of just a passing shower from the front exiting to the east on late Tuesday and on into Wednesday, we’re going to remain mainly sunny and hot for the rest of the week with highs in the upper 90s and lows in the mid to upper 70s.

The high pushes a little farther north-northeast for next weekend and though we’ll be under its influence still, we could get an enhanced seabreeze for Saturday and Sunday.  That means coastal areas could see a quick afternoon shower that will migrate inland by the late evening hours and dissipate.

Stay cool and don’t forget to provide some water and shade for outdoor pets.  Have a fantastic week!
