Our much advertised cold front has completely pushed through the entire Coastal Bend and we are seeing some of the coolest temperatures we’ve seen in over 5 months.  From 7AM to about 11AM, the front made its way from our northern counties through our southern counties dropping temperatures around 20-30 degrees within one hour!  Out at Corpus Christi International from 8:51AM to 9:51AM, the temperature went from 83 degrees to 58 degrees, a 25 degree drop!

The rainfall has been heavy in some locations, especially out in the Brush Country where some localized amounts of 1-3 inches have fallen.

Tonight look for drastically cooler temperatures, compared to what we’ve been accustomed to these last few months, as overnight low fall in the upper 40s to low 50s.  Rainfall will be intermittent and could be heavy at times.  Winds will still blow out of the north around 15-25MPH and gusting. Wind chill values could fall in the mid to low 40s.

Tomorrow will not warm up much at all as cold air gets trapped on the surface with on and off light to moderate showers.  Highs are forecast to only achieve the low to mid-50s.  Winds will persist out of the north around 15-25MPH and gusting.

With cooler air trapped on the surface and warm air streaming aloft from the southwest, we’ll see an overrunning pattern the next several days.  What that means for us as below normal temperatures the next couple of days along with lots of clouds and rainfall potential each day.  We’ll see rain chances pick up quite a bit on Thursday as the boundary backs up from the Gulf of Mexico.

Going into Thursday, Friday and into the weekend, the clouds will stay plentiful along with rain chances and temperatures will rise out of the 50s into the 60s and 70s, but even those numbers are way below our seasonal average of 85 degrees!

Stay warm!
