CORPUS CHRISTI (TAMUCC) – Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi junior Dustin Lacaze was drafted by the Arizona Diamondbacks in the 21st round (#632) of the 2019 Major League Baseball Draft on Wednesday afternoon.
Lacaze becomes the 14th Islander all time to be taken in the draft. He becomes the first A&M-Corpus Christi player to be taken by Arizona. At pick No. 632, Lacaze is the fifth-highest ever draft pick in program history.

Lacaze made 16 appearances with 13 starts as a junior in 2019, earning All-Southland Defensive Team honors.
The right hander threw a career-high 79.0 innings with 81 strikeouts on the year. He had a career-high 11 strikeouts in 7.0 innings of work against Oral Roberts while not allowing a hit or a run. He had eight outings with five or more strikeouts.
