The high school basketball spotlight will be shining down on Odem, Texas this Friday when the Owls host the 18th ranked Aransas Pass Panthers for highly anticipated matchup.

This Aransas Pass team is quite the opposite of Odem, a team with nine seniors on its roster and relies on skillful ball handling and shooting. The Panthers rely on their high intensity defense and are led by eight sophomores. The Panther seniors are hoping their defense will lead the way.

“Our defense is really good,” Senior Jared Gentry said. “Odem is a really good three point team and with our defense we can stop that and hopefully convert on offense.”

The Panthers are undefeated in district and look to keep that up after their game on Friday. And for head coach Glen Hayes, he has one simple goal for his team, and it is not just to win.

“I want to see that we play hard and play smart and play together,” Hayes said.
