It’s a tough world out there, even for school-age children. Drugs and alcohol, violence, amorality, teen pregnancy and other pressures of modern life confront children every day inside and outside the classroom. How can you protect your child from these hazards and equip your child to navigate adult life successfully?

For many, the answer is a Christian education that teaches children the values elaborated in the Bible. Yorktown Christian Academy (YCA) was established in 1994 to provide Christian families with a Christ-centered education program. Today, YCA has more than 200 students from 155 families representing 35 different community churches. YCA is an Evangelical Christian school with an expectation that parents have a clear understanding of salvation by faith in Christ and are actively involved in their church.

Here are 7 of the many benefits of sending your child to Yorktown Christian Academy:

1. A Biblical Worldview

Students at YCA benefit from a values-based education that integrates wisdom, examples, stories, characters and teaching from God’s word. A haven for education, YCA partners with parents to help students forge their morals and values based on the teachings of Jesus Christ during their crucial formative years.

2. Teachers Committed to a Christian Education

At YCA, the teachers are active members of evangelical churches from around the area who demonstrate their commitment to a Christ-centered education every day. They develop relationships with students and their families and openly pray for them in school. For the teachers at YCA, their work is more than a job; it’s a ministry.

3. Positive Role Models

Teachers, administrators, fellow students, parents and the surrounding YCA community all reinforce the values of a Christ-centered life. Your child is enveloped in an environment of positive role models at Yorktown Christian Academy. These healthy attachments help build more solid foundations in your child’s life that help them through critical periods of their lives.

4. Strong Academics

Students who graduate from middle school at YCA often score in the top 10 in area high schools. With smaller classes, dedicated teachers and great extra-curricular activities, Christian schools have a long history of superior academic outcomes.

5. Out-of-School Activities

YCA offers sports, family international mission trips and overtly Christian Boy Scout programs for families, for boys and for girls, designed to build the essential skills critical to the 21st Century workplace. The self-reliance, teamwork, problem-solving, leadership and other skills developed in these programs prepare students for the future.

6. A Better Overall Experience

Students who learn in a positive environment provided by Christian schools exhibit fewer behavioral problems and develop superior socialization skills than their peers, according to years of research. The result is fewer of the problems plaguing public schools, like gangs, drugs and racial disharmony.

7. Life-changing Results

Most students leave YCA with a clear understanding of what they believe about God and personally own it. Numerous parents have returned to YCA and told inspiring stories about the positive changes YCA made in the lives of their children.
