As Corpus Christi continues to prosper, the Corpus Christi Regional Transportation Authority (CCRTA) is rethinking travel throughout our growing city. The community spoke, and the CCRTA listened. The CCRTA is putting plans in motion to meet future transit needs that will drive Corpus Christi into the next decade. Introducing Fleet Forward, the “B” has rolled out some major improvements to enhance the rider experience. CCRTA is creating a more efficient and reliable transit system while providing the best value to the community.
WHERE WE’RE GOING
Public input during Transit Plan 2020, which concluded in 2016, has helped the CCRTA plan the mobility future by improving the efficiency and reliability of the overall system. CCRTA has made dramatic improvements to the transportation system as part of Fleet Forward, including rider’s top request to expand Sunday services, upgrades in frequency and transitioning bus stop resources.
Sunday services will now be running on a frequency similar to the existing Saturday services. The CCRTA provides weekday mobility for travel to and from work, education, medical facilities, and leisure activities. By providing that same reliable service on the weekends, CCRTA commits to accommodating the community with year-round access for work and play.
Fleet Forward includes significant changes to the entire transit system with service modifications to fixed routes in the Corpus Christi areas of: Northside, Central, South Central, Westside, Downtown, and North Beach. In these same areas of the city, the CCRTA has shifted services from several bus stops and redirected riders to more readily used bus stops along alternate routes.
HOW WE’LL GET THERE
Fleet Forward launched on September 10th, with all Sunday service upgrades and bus stop transitions taking effect on that date. For assistance planning your travel, please visit the CCRTA.org website or call the customer support line at 361-883-2287.
With the continued goal of delivering an improved rider experience, future upgrades to the system will continue through the year 2020 with value-added services, introducing new Flex service and expansion of Express and Vanpool services.
