Corpus Christi Hooks help clean local beaches with fans

The Corpus Christi Hooks had their first-ever Coastal Bend Conservation Weekend, June 20-22, presented by the Port of Corpus Christi.

The celebration kicked off on World Oceans Day, Saturday, June 8 with the Hooks Beach Sweep. Those in the Coastal Bend community had a chance to join several Hooks players and staff in a beach clean-up.

Volunteers received a Beach Sweep t-shirt as well as a free ticket to the Hooks game on Thursday, June 20.

Other events celebrating Conservation Weekend include a “No Phones Hooks Game” on June 20 and a hiking backpack giveaway on June 22.

There will be a silent auction June 19 through June 23 for the game-worn Coastal Bend Conservation Weekend jerseys. Proceeds will benefit a local conservation group.

The Hooks will sport special Coastal Bend uniforms as they face the Springfield Cardinals on Conservation Weekend. The uniforms include a Speckled Trout, a fish commonly caught in Coastal Bend waters. Behind the trout are familiar Coastal Bend scenes including the Gulf shoreline, a sunset and pier. Merchandise with the logo is available for fans at Whataburger Field or online.
