A recent inspection on the Cole Park Pier finds that the structure will need to be completely rebuilt.
In April 2018, the Corpus Christi Parks and recreation Department closed the pier after inspectors found cracks and the concrete structure and determined it was unsafe for public use.
Last weekend, the pier was again inspected, when it was discovered that parts of the pier are now falling into Corpus Christi Bay, showing the pier’s continued deterioration.
The city now says the pier is beyond repair and needs to be completely replaced.
The city does not yet have a timeline for the project to remove the fallen sections or replace the decades-old pier.
