CITGO  has announced they will donate $175,000 to the Corpus Christi Fire Department, to be used for purchasing specialized emergency storm response equipment.

The check will be presented Tuesday, April 16th at City Hall as part of CITGO’s “Fueling Good. Rebuilding Lives.” initiative that started in the wake of hurricane Harvey.

“CITGO takes great pride in our commitment to the power of social responsibility, particularly in the communities in which we live and work.” CITGO says on their website, “It is one of our core values to promote, and participate in, a wide variety of social development programs designed to improve the quality of peoples’ lives, especially those who suffer the severity of poverty.”

This isn’t the first time CITGO has helped out in the Coastal Bend. According to their website, they have donated $500,000 to the Coastal Bend Community Foundation for temporary housing, food,  supplies, healthcare, and transportation for people in need, 3,300 gallons of drinking water, and 9,000 gallons of fuel for local power plants and volunteer organizations assisting in hurricane relief efforts.
