A person suspected of robbing a west side convenience store has been shot by Corpus Christi Police.

According to CCPD Chief Mike Markle, officers were responding to a robbery call at the Hi-Ho convenience store on the 4900 block of Baldwin Boulevard at about 4:30 p.m. today.

Officers were given a description of two men suspected of robbing the store.

Markle said that a short time later, officers approached a person who matched the description of one of the suspects, and that interaction resulted in shots being fired by the officer.

Markle says the suspect is in stable condition.

The officer involved in the shooting has been placed on administrative leave pending an investigation.

No information was available about the identity of the officer or the whereabouts of the second suspect involved in the robbery.

This is a developing story and more information will be reported as it becomes available.
