Corpus Christi Animal Care Services had a great turnout for their latest “Woof Pack” reading event.

March is National reading month. Earlier this month, we told you that Animal Care Services was celebrating by inviting young readers to come over on Thursdays and read to some of the animals at their facility.

As you can see, lots of kids responded Thursday, including a girl scout troop.

Animal care services got 35 new “Woof pack” readers. They say the reading really helps the cats and dogs.

Animal Care Services employees say the stress level of a shelter animal is greatly reduced when they receive a minimum of ten minutes of human interaction daily.

The reading also helps the young volunteers sharpen their reading skills.

If your child would like to help, stop by Animal Care Service at 2626 Holly Road Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
