A report of shots fired turned into a SWAT situation at a Corpus Christi home this morning.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, officers were called to a home in the 800 block of Lantana Street just before 11 a.m.

When officers tried to contact the home’s residents, a man opened the door and quickly shut it when he realized it was the police.

A SWAT team was called out, but while they were en route to the scene, two men inside the house departed.

Following a brief foot chase, the two men were arrested.

“We had a potential safety issue for the neighborhood, we have a school up the street,” said CCPD senior officer Travis Pace.  “People need to think, behave right, follow the law, and don’t do things like this.”

During a search of the house, officers found weapons and spent casings.

Pace says the men face charges of evading arrest, firing a gun inside the city limits, and could face additional charges.
