An overnight home invasion and shooting left one man in the hospital with a gunshot wound to the leg.

Officers responded to a 911 call on the 4300 block of Crested Butte Drive on the city’s south side just after 3 a.m. Multiple people busted down the door of a home and made their way inside, according to officers with the Corpus Christi Police Department. One shot was fired. A man living at the home was hit in the leg and was taken to the hospital. He is expected to be OK.

The intruders left the scene before officers arrived, officers said.

Officers on scene described those living at the home as a young family and said they are fully cooperating. The family told officers they did not know the intruders.

Investigators are trying to find surveillance footage and are speaking with witnesses to try to piece together why the home was targeted.

Crime scene investigators gathered evidence such as fingerprints and photographs at the scene. The investigation is ongoing.
