UPDATE: The Nueces County Medical Examiner’s office has identified the man killed in this morning’s accident as 52-year-old Gary Owen.
A man was killed after being hit by a car while trying to cross South Padre Island Drive in Flour Bluff. The driver then left the scene.
The accident happened at the intersection of Weaver and SPID, just east of Flour Bluff Drive, just after 4 a.m.
Lt. Frazier with the Corpus Christi Police Department says the 52-year-old man was trying to cross the road when he was hit. He was killed on impact.
Investigators have shut down S.P.I.D. at Weaver St. and it will remain closed for at least the next two hours, Frazier said.
A description of the vehicle was not immediately available.
