Two people were taken to area hospitals after a major accident early this morning in front of Veterans Memorial High School.
Two SUVs ended up skidding off of the roadway when one, a black SUV, failed to yield while turning left into the school, according to Officer Paul Janko with the Corpus Christi Police Department.
A woman and man were taken to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to Janko. He says the most important thing to remember is to pay attention while driving.
“The tip of the week is this: when we have school, just be careful, plan a little ahead, leave a little early, wake up a little early, and be aware that some other drivers may not be paying attention, so pay attention because they may not be paying attention,” Officer Janko said.
Both north bound lanes on Cimarron near Lipes were closed for a short time but have been reopened.
The driver that failed to yield did receive a ticket.
