A Robstown police officer has been arrested on DWI charges again.

According to the Corpus Christi Police Department, 39-year old Orlando Vasquez was arrested for driving drunk early Friday morning.

He was arrested just after midnight in the 5800 block of South Padre Island Drive near Moore Plaza.

According to CCPD Public Information Officer Lt. John Hooper, Vasquez failed his sobriety test and was arrested for driving while intoxicated, a Class B misdemeanor.

This isn’t Vasquez’s first DWI arrest. He was arrested on July 1, 2017. At that time, a police officer said they pulled Vasquez over after he appeared to be racing on Everhart Road near Bonner Drive.

Robstown City Secretary Herman Rodriguez says he is working with the city’s legal team to find out what do next.

“We are aware of the 2nd DWI,” Rodriguez said. “He has been on a personal leave that ended September 12th. He hasn’t returned to work since.” .

Robstown Police Chief Erasmo Flores warned all members of his staff when he took over the department in November 2017, all officers were told that those type of infractions would not be tolerated by his department moving forward.
