Border Patrol Agents near Laredo today disrupted a methamphetamine smuggling attempt.
According to U.S. Customs and Border Protection, agents at the Interstate 35 checkpoint referred a GMC Yukon to additional inspection after a Border Patrol K9 alerted to the vehicle.
Upon inspection, agents found two bundles of crystal methamphetamine, weighing more than five pounds, hidden inside of a speaker box in the rear of the truck.
Border Patrol says the drugs, worth an estimated $183,421, along with the vehicle’s driver and two passengers were turned over to local authorities for prosecution.
