The City of Corpus Christi offers different housing programs through their Housing and Community Development Department. All of these programs are federally and locally funded.

Programs offered:

  • Demolition and Reconstruction Loan Program
  • Veterans Minor Home Repair Grant Program
  • Single Family Rehab Loan Program
  • Minor Home Repair Grant Program
  • HOME Closing Cost Assistance Program
  • Homebuyer Assistance Program

On Friday, August 10, at 11 a.m. the City will welcome a Corpus Christi Senior Citizen into her newly reconstructed home, which was built through the City’s demolition and reconstruction loan program.

For this specific program, anyone can apply to see if they meet the qualifications. Depending on income requirements and the current state and value of the home, a resident can have their home demolished and completely rebuilt.

“Overall what we look at is the value of the home and if the cost of the repairs exceeds 50% of that, then we refer it over to the demolition replacement program. If not, then we refer them to one of our other programs,” says Operations Program Manager, Nicolas Rodriguez.

The program also offers a grant for demolition and a grant for relocation services. “We’ll provide a list of certain apartments that we have and have them choose from that list and as far as storage places and stuff like that. That way we can pay for the movers to relocate them, pay the rent,” says Rodriguez.

The City tells KRIS 6 that they have between 6-10 newly built homes every year through this program. They also want people to know that they are there to help and stop by the Housing and Community Development Department or call 361-826-3010 to see if you’d be qualified.
