It is one of the premier sailing events on the planet and it is going to be taking place on our waterfront.
Boats and crews have slowly been making their way into the bay for the 2019 Citgo Etchells World Championships.
The event is set to begin June 25 and run through Saturday, June 29.
It is an event that Corpus was made to host.
“We have a great venue here in Corpus and some events go over really well with a lot of wind which we have a lot of,” said Shannon Bush, co-chair of the Citgo Etchells world championships. “People are here that have medaled in the Olympics. They’ve done the around the world race … who are College All-Americans and are just unbelievable sailors coming to town for 10 days.
“There are 10 nations represented, 37 boats and 140 some-odd competitors and it is the best of the best.”
