Corpus Christi and the Coastal Bend of Texas | We Investigate

Severe thunderstorm watch through tonight and then an extreme blast of pre-summer heat

Leftover tropical moisture over the Coastal Bend, along with daytime heating, was enough to get a few thundershowers going in the northern and northeastern sections of the region today.

The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch for the entire Coastal Bend until 10 p.m. today.

The storms will favor the northern and northeastern sections of the area where the Storm Prediction Center has an “enhanced” risk of severe weather through the early evening hours.

Large hail, straight-line damaging winds and heavy downpours will be primary threats with the storms.

Once we really begin to lose daytime heating and head into the overnight hours, a lot of the activity will start to dissipate and we’ll be left steamy and with a few clouds lingering around.

And get ready for an extreme blast of tropical heat through the weekend.
