Banquete is similarly in uncharted territory as the Bulldogs are in the regional finals for the first time in school history.
They are also enjoying a record-breaking season.
But after losing to Hallettsville 1-0 in the Class 3A opener on Wednesday, they need to win twice on Saturday when they play again in Jourdanton if they want to advance to state.
“We just have to clean it up,” Banquete coach Kevin Hermes said. “We must believe in ourselves and go out and play great defense and that’s what has got us to this point so far.
“We have to battle harder at the plate. We are playing a very good team, but we are where we’re at because we are a good team as well. So, it’s about going out there and believing we can get it done and play the best two games of the year on Saturday.”
The games in Jourdanton start at 4 p.m. tomorrow.
