The Corpus Christi Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni are collecting gently used and new shoes. The shoes will not only benefit Corpus Christi police officers, but also help support individuals around the world.

This is the third year CCCPAA has partnered with an organization called Funds 2 Orgs who send the shoes to impoverished areas around the world. Micro-entrepreneurs then refurbish and sell the shoes to support their families and communities.

The Citizen’s Police Academy Alumni will receive 42 cents per pound of shoes donated. That money will be used to purchase equipment for the upcoming police academy.

The Alumni plan to purchase flashlights and pocket knives that can break windows and cut seat belts.

Last year, with the help of the shoe drive funds, they were able to purchase a police K-9.

Shoe collection boxes can be found at the following locations:

  • IBC Banks – Calallen, Everhart, Flour Bluff, Shoreline, Staples
  • Texas Bridge Credit Union
  • Chemcel Federal Credit Union
  • Mary Grett Transition Center
  • CC Animal Care services
  • Natural Grocers
  • Fuzzy’s Taco Shop
  • Discount Tire
  • Padre Island POA
  • Peoples Restaurant
  • Annaville Muffler & Automotive

The goal is to collect 6,000 shoes by the end of May.
