It’s been said that the early bird catches the worm.

That will be the case on Sunday when many families come to West Guth Park to celebrate Easter.

Families will get to enjoy many upgrades like a new pavilion, disc golf, new sidewalks and more.

However, our KRIS 6 news cameras found that the park may be completed but supplies from the construction still are on site.

“We work with the contractors – this is still the work week Monday through Friday – so the contractors are still working,” Corpus Christi Parks & Recreation Superintendent Lisa Oliver said. “Then, they will remove any equipment or materials that will be a safety hazard so that way we can have a safe environment for the residents to enjoy.”

Parks & Recreation Department officials say these supplies and equipment will be gone before Easter.

Before your family decides to come out to the park for some family fun, there are rules and regulations that are set in place.

  • Absolutely no alcohol or glass containers allowed.
  • Driving or parking on the grass is strictly prohibited.
  • Dogs will need to be on a leash and you must clean up your pet waste.
  • No littering
  • There is no camping at West Guth Park.
