As we come to the one-year anniversary of the Margie Rose resignation, the council might be feeling pressure to fill the city manager position.

Mayor Joe McComb said Wednesday that the speed of the process will pick up considerably now that the Final Four have been selected.

But first, each candidate will visit with the council and the community.

“You’ve got to put together what you see on paper and what you see in person,” McComb said.

As far as credentials, each finalist has municipal management experience at different levels.

Harry Black served as city manager in Cincinnati. Lee Feldman held that position in Fort Lauderdale, Fla.

Council is familiar with the work of Keith Selman, the current interim city manager. Prior to that, he served as assistant city manager.

Peter Zanoni is the current deputy city manager in San Antonio.

City staff will contact the finalists to find out what dates they can visit.

Council members will discuss their responses at next week’s council meeting.

And from there, the mayor says they should have interviews and community meetings scheduled within two weeks.

The selection of these finalists was a unanimous decision.

Members of the council will have the final decision of who to hire.

But the mayor says what people are saying after a community meet and greet with the finalists will also be a big factor in making that final decision.
