Neighbors on the Island are stepping in to lend a helping hand that will benefit the United States Coast Guard Sector – Corpus Christi by passing out chili and drinks.
Volunteers with this fundraiser say, every little bit counts when helping out these government workers as the partial shutdown continues.
For every donation, this team of volunteers had about seventy dollars to start off with and before 11 a.m. on January 19th, 2019, they’ve hit five hundred dollars.
Team members say the goal is to reach $10,000 all to help the United States Coast Guard and their families.
Organizers say the benefit spoke volumes to many folks, including the youth that were involved to help government employees while calling others to do the same.
