Warriors United: Honor, salute veterans at Veterans Day celebration

On Veterans Day, the Rockport Warriors United organization will recognize former and active soldiers who served in the United States military.

The nonprofit organization is planning to salute veterans who served in the U.S. armed forces with a party.

On Sunday November 11, the community is invited to help honor area veterans and their families.

This event is hosted by David Jones, who served eight years in the Navy, and his wife Tracy. They will have live music, food and beverages, and they will also be decorating a 10 foot Christmas tree for the veterans in the recreation room.

The Rockport Warriors United nonprofit organization opened their doors in March to help improve and empower the lives of veterans and active duty military along with their families.

Veterans Day was created with the armistice that ended World War I, which called for a ceasefire in 1918 effective at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, which became Veterans Day.
