The Coastal Bend becomes birdwatching-central this week as the “The Birdiest Festival in America”
takes place here Wednesday through Sunday.

Among the most loyal visitors to Corpus Christi, birders from across the nation are expected to spend the next four days enjoying birding workshops, a birding industry vendor show, guest speakers and optional guided field trips, as well as an arts/crafts show, vendor tents, Raptor Project shows and a family-fun area.

For the third year, the South Texas Botanical Gardens & Nature Center at 8545 S. Staples St. will be hosting the gathering. Their website is www.stxbot.org.

There will be a Family Fun Day open to everyone (with general admission prices apply) on Saturday with tours, Nature Stations, lots of activities for children, an Artisan Market, Tortoise Tales and Parrot Talks, food trucks and more.

Although last year’s registration numbers have already been topped, there is still time to register for the festival. To see a complete schedule of all events, visit www.birdiestfestival.org.  You may also call (361) 852-2100 for more information.

The basic registration fee is $25, plus additional fees for add-on field trips and workshops.
