Given the opportunity, not many children can resist exploring and perhaps even getting behind the wheel of a cool vehicle. On Saturday at Water’s Edge Park (602 S. Shoreline Blvd.), they will even be encouraged to do so!

The Junior League of Corpus Christi (JLCC) has once again put together their Touch-A-Truck event. It provides a fun and unique opportunity for children to explore vehicles of all types, including public service and emergency vehicles, as well as utility, construction, landscaping, transportation and delivery trucks and more.

Children will be allowed to touch their favorite vehicles, get behind the wheel, and even meet the people who help build, protect, and serve our community.

Crafts, games and food trucks will also be part of the day’s activities.

Proceeds from Touch-A-Truck will be used to support community outreach programs focused on literacy, S.T.E.M. and Done in a Day projects that target specific community needs. Helping JLCC bring this event to the Corpus Christi Bayfront is HEB. They are also providing t-shirts to the first 1,000 children who attend.

The fun starts at 10 a.m. and the first two hours will be designated as “horns free” for children sensitive to loud sounds. Then, from Noon until 2 p.m., children are invited to test the horn on each of the trucks at the park.
