Oyster aficionados will be making their way to Fulton this week for the annual Fulton Oysterfest.

Now in its 40th year, the festival runs Thursday through Sunday at Fulton Beach Park on N. Casterline Drive in Fulton.

Proceeds from this event provide primary funding for the Fulton Volunteer Fire Department.

This year’s live music lineup will feature Bobby Flores and the Yellow Rose Band, along with several local favorites, including Riptide. There will also be Raw Oyster Eating, Oyster Shucking and Oyster Decorating contests, with prizes for those who place 1st through 3rd.

Of course, everyone loves the fireworks (Thursday at 8:00 p.m.) and the parade (Saturday at 11:00 a.m.), as well as the big carnival and the arts & crafts tent, filled with various vendors.

Gates open Thursday an 5:00 p.m. and admission is $2. It’s $5 for those 12 and over the rest of the weekend. All active or retired military members will be admitted free.
