With a new year comes, new rules. On January 1st, a federal rule went into effect on hospital transparency, thanks to the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services.

This new rule requires all hospitals to post all standard charges to their websites. The goal is to give consumers the opportunity to see the cost for everything, from band-aids to heart surgery, all before seeking medical treatment.

Both CHRISTUS Spohn and Driscoll Children’s Hospital have lists offering different procedures and treatments.

Consumer experts do say that the price could be misleading, because people need to take in effect the cost difference of insurance, deductibles and other factors.

If you have any questions about pricing you can contact either financial desks with CHRISTUS Spohn, , and Driscoll Children’s Hospital, (361) 694-5946.
