Corpus Christi Hooks 3B Randy Cesar has been a hitting machine this season, literally. It was the longest hitting streak in Texas League history, and it ended at 42 games. The former record was set 49 years ago. Cesar has hit in every game since May 4th, but that streak soon ended June 29, in a 2-1 loss, Cesar went 0-4. The Hooks, or Raspas, as they will be called for the next two days, took on the Arkansas Travelers at Whataburger Field. In the first night as the Raspas, defense helped the team start off strong. There was some added excitement at the end of last night’s Corpus Christi Hooks game at Whataburger field. Just after the game ended, grounds crews were preparing for the evening fireworks show, when an opossum ran out of a tarp that was being used to cover the field.
