CORPUS CHRISTI, Texas — A fire in an Annaville neighborhood Sunday afternoon sent residents there into panic.

Corpus Christi firefighters responded to a fire on Mayfield Drive late Sunday afternoon when a house there went up in flames.

The Corpus Christi Fire Department responded and saw the home engulfed in flames.

Authorites say no one was injured by the fire and everyone was accounted for.

The homeowner spoke to our cameras about the situation.

“It’s hard to watch your house burn, however, it’s a house, it’s just a house,” homeowner Joan Morgan said. “We can do something about it.”

Neighbors stepped in to help while authorities arrived.

“It went fast, the fire set quick,” neighbor Maciel Tovar said. “We tried to turn it off with water hoses, but the water hoses weren’t doing anything.”

Authorities say it took about 45 minutes to extinguish the flames. An investigation to determine what caused the fire is ongoing.
